John McGreal looks set to miss Town's crunch game at West Brom tomorrow with a twisted ankle. The former Tranmere man was injured in training on Saturday when blocking a shot. As well as McGreal Fabian Wilnis and Gary Croft may also miss out with hamstring and groin injuries respectively. Town have a number of options, Mark Venus might move to left back, Wayne Brown might come in or Manu Thetis may get a recall, as might Mickey Stockwell. In all probability Town will play 4-4-2, but with the personnel situation as it is 5-3-2 may be the way Town shape up. As for the strikers David Johnson and James Scowcroft will probably continue although Marcus Stewart is over the worst effects of his injury. Martin Reuser looks likely to start on the bench. Manu Thetis may get a recall with Michael Clegg dropping to the bench and either Fabian Wilnis or Gary Croft coming in at right wing-back. Town centre-half John McGreal has been confirmed as missing from tomorrow's squad for the game with Portsmouth. Hot favourite for his position is Manu Thetis after he came through the reserve game on Wednesday with no ill effects despite a game marking Kevin 'Too Tall' Francis. If he isn't considered match fit enough Matt Holland could find himself at centre-half with Jermaine Wright coming into the midfield. The other contenders are Fabian Wilnis, who recently played a reserve game in the centre, and Gary Croft who has recovered quickly from his gash. Croft, however, is likely to return to his right wing back role with Michael Clegg dropping to the bench. Trevor Francis was probably the more relieved of the two managers as Town and his men shared the points at St Andrew's. A Tony Mowbray own goal was cancelled out by a David Johnson strike on the stroke of half-time in a Sunday lunchtime clash which was never the most enthralling of games.

As was inevitable Marcus Stewart was the man that ultimately made the difference between Town and Huddersfield, his former employer. The £2.5 million man hit the Blues' second in the 73rd minute after James Scowcroft had scored Town's first and Dean Gorre had hit an equaliser for the Yorkshire side.

Town skipper yesterday signed the deal which will tie him to Portman Road until 2004. The deal had been offered to him before Christmas and talks had progressed smoothly. Matt said: "It's taken a little while to tie up the loose ends but I was always confident we'd reach agreement. I am ambitious to play in the Premiership and I feel this could be our year. The club has the ambition to buy Marcus Stewart, but that made no difference to my decision. Everyone knows how much I enjoy playing for Ipswich Town." What a man!
